On the subject of modern pterosaurs, Jonathan Whitcomb has written five nonfiction books, over a thousand blog posts and other web pages, and one scientific paper in a peer-reviewed journal of science.
Since 2003, he has received hundreds of reports from eyewitnesses originally coming from six continents, accounts that were directly from the persons who had witnessed one or more apparent modern pterosaurs.
In 2004, he led an expedition on Umboi Island to search for the nocturnal ropen. He has probably spent more hours, during the past twenty years, in this field of cryptozoology, than any other living person.
