In 1944, on the mainland of New Guinea, two American soldiers encountered a giant featherless creature that flew up into the air. Duane Hodgkinson later estimated the tail to be "at least 10-15 feet long." It had no feathers visible.

In 1971, Brian Hennessy saw a "prehistoric" creature flying overhead on Bougainville Island, Papua New Guinea. It had a long tail & "no feathers in sight."

In 2008, a small airplane nearly collided with a giant flying creature off the coast of Indonesia.
