If white advances the e-pawn (pawn next to white king), and changes it into a queen, black can move his queen four space to the right (to g7) and the white king will be checkmated. If white advances his a-pawn (pawn on the left), the black queen will capture the other pawn and, after the white king moves to the right, the black queen will then move to g7, checkmate. Can you see any way for white to win this endgame? White can win. When you are ready, see the solution.
