The following videos are some of the most popular on the Youtube channel Protect Animal Life (not in any precise order). The lengths are in minutes and seconds with quotations taken from the description sections of the videos and from comments submitted by viewers.

Pterodactyl Attack (length = 6:09)

Many years ago, a native fisherman in Papua New Guinea was attacked by what his people call a “kor”. . . the kor is said to have destroyed the man’s canoe. Then began a long battle between the fisherman and the apparent modern pterosaur (pterodactyl). [The end result was the death of both the flying creature and the man.]

There is an old legend in Frederick, Maryland, of a pterodactyl-like winged creature called the “Snallygaster”. The legend is handed down from early German settlers in the 1700’s in Frederick, who called it a “Schneller Geist”, which means “quick ghost” in German.

Pterodactyl Caught on Camera – Part 2 – Jungle flying creature

The biologist Peter Beach, of Portland, Oregon, videotaped a modern pterosaur on New Britain Island, Papua New Guinea, on March 25, 2015, in the presence of Milt Marcy, a businessman from the Portland, OR, area. The two American explorers had flown into the jungle interior by helicopter and had then set up a viewing stand where they had a great view of the surrounding jungle.

Both men later testified of the features and form of the flying creature, giving their opinion that it was a living pterosaur (commonly called, in some Western countries, ‘pterodactyl’ or ‘dinosaur bird’). Larger than any eagle . . .

Pterodactyl Sightings – flying creatures around the world

I live in South Carolina about 10 min away from North Carolina. When I was a senior in high school my friend and I were driving down a dark road, same area I am in now. All trees on each side of it. It was dark outside, don’t remember what time exactly. But a huge black bird was flying ahead and I will never forget this for the rest of my life…. it swooped down. I was so scared it looked like it was going to crash into the windshield, but it didn’t. . . . We stopped dead in our tracks. Along with the 2 cars ahead of us. We all got out of the car in amazement. We were all strangers and were like, did you just see what I saw?

From August 27-28 [2020] . . . it skyrocketed [on Youtube]: Instead of 10-18 views a day, it soared into the hundreds, sometimes at least 50 views per hour.

I’ve just uploaded a video to Youtube: “Top Ten Shocking Facts on Modern Pterosaurs.” I’ll list only three of them here but will go into a few more details than are found in that video, beginning with the least shocking:

Fact #10

In Western cultures, we have three kinds of fear, including an occasional fear of one of these flying creatures, for some of them are large and may be dangerous; in some non-Western countries, the only fear an eyewitness is likely to have is that fear of the animal.

What are the other two kinds of fear? Western eyewitnesses often fear what other persons might think when told about the sighting, or the eyewitness may fear that he or she had lost the ability to perceive accurately or even that some kind of insanity may exist, even if only temporary.

Fact #8

Not all paleontologists or biologists believe that it’s impossible for a species of pterosaur to still be alive. In fact, one biologist has searched for living pterosaurs in both North America and in Papua New Guinea: Peter Beach.

I videotaped the two men seen below, while we were by the Yakima River in southeastern Washington state a few years ago. That image of them is from my video footage. They pointed out to me where they saw the flying creatures at night, apparently as the animals were catching fish.

Most modern pterosaurs have long tails and appear to be descendants of some type of Rhamphorhynchoid pterosaur. What is shocking about that? This kind of pterosaur is believed, by any paleontologists, to have been much more common in the earliest history of those flying creatures, not nearly so numerous after the short-tailed ones had become dominant in the skies.

The eleven most recently uploaded videos on my Youtube channel Protect Animal Life—those have had 68 likes and no dislikes from viewers, as of early October 2, 2019.

Using 161 sighting reports, which Whitcomb chose after eliminating ones that had too much potential for misidentification of a bird, he found that California and Texas had the most, at 27 and 11, but he ascribed that to higher human populations in those two states.

Giant “Pterodactyl” of 1944

Popular Youtube Video

The Youtube video “Ropen-Pterodactyl American Eyewitness” has had over 275,000 views, but far more astonishing is the view that Duane Hodgkinson had of the giant flying creature he saw near the city of Finschhafen, New Guinea, during a lull in fighting with the Japanese military (World War II).

I have interviewed Duane several times since mid-2004. The Youtube video, however, I edited from footage recorded by Garth Guessman (a living-pterosaur investigator associate of mine), who visited the old veteran in Montana in 2005. Many who view the online video are impressed with the credibility of the eyewitness.

Hodgkinson Sighting, in Summary

He and his army buddy had stopped on a trail, just west of the coastal city of Finschhafen, in 1944. Something took off into the air; Hogkinson assumed, at first, it was a bird. But he soon realized that the size was all wrong: about the wingspan of a small private airplane. The tail he later estimated to be at least ten or fifteen feet long. But what caught his attention was an appendage coming out the back of the head; it reminded him of the “pterodactyl” in the Alley Oop newspaper cartoon strip.
